WV State Police issue awards for service to the community

Members of the West Virginia State Police were honored on Wednesday, April 10, for exceptional performance.

Colonel C.R."Jay" Smithers presented uniformed troopers and civilian members with citations and awards.

People receiving awards were nominated by co-workers, and were given for their work in critical situations or the difference they make on a daily bases in the State Police family.

The Superintendent's Award was given to Senior Trooper B.A. Lowe from the Logan detachment. "A lot of time the work we do goes unnoticed. It's nice to get recognition. I'm very flattered. It's a huge honor," said Lowe.

With the recognition comes a new police cruiser with the words "Superintendent's Award 2013" on the back and on the windshield.
