HUNTINGTON, Wv. -

A Huntington man is charged with beating his incapacitated wife.

Officers with the Huntington Police Department said 50-year-old Kerry Scott Maynard is charged with felony abuse or neglect of incapacitated adult after his wife, Janet, was found with a black eye and bruises all over her arms, according to the criminal complaint.

The couple's two sons left their parents' home on Columbia Avenue April 3, returning two days later to find their injured mother. The complaint states the wheelchair-bound woman with only one leg also suffered from a stroke and seizures. She is not able to speak and officers said the two sons asked her who hurt her and she pointed to the room where their dad was.

Once they took their mother to their home, she kept feeling ill. They took her to the hospital and found she had four fractured ribs.

Kerry Maynard is currently in the Western Regional Jail. He is expected in court April 26.
