Posted: Updated:

The woman who led police on a car chase and ended up in a car wreck is now facing felony charges.

Valerie Lane, 52, of Hurricane, is charged with a third-offense DUI and fleeing DUI.

Saint Albans police received several calls about a reckless driver earlier Monday afternoon, according to Capt. James Agee.

The pursuit started around 4:50 p.m. near the Saint Albans Mall and ended about ten minutes later near the 7-11 on Shadyside Road.

Lane's car hit a pole, causing the vehicle to flip over the train tracks, Capt. Agee said. Medics then pulled Lane out of her car.

Officers found three prescription bottles in Lane's car--all prescribed to her. She was taken to Thomas Memorial Hospital before her arraignment Monday evening.

CSX workers said they're inspecting the train tracks for any damage.

According to dispatchers, a car crashed and roll-over while being pursued by police.

The pursuit started about 4:50 p.m. on MacCorkle Avenue in Saint Albans near the McDonald's.  The pursuit lasted about ten minutes before the car crashed on Shadyside Road near the 7-11 in Saint Albans.

Dispatchers say driver has been freed from the car and was transported to hospital.
