MORGANTOWN, WV -

H. Wayne Lambert, a professor in the West Virginia University Department of Neurobiology and Anatomy, has been selected as the recipient of the 2013 American Dental Education Association/Colgate-Palmolive Excellence in Teaching Award.

Lambert accepted the award March 17 at the ADEA's annual session and exhibition in Seattle.

The award recognizes dental educators who demonstrate exemplary standards and promote excellence in dental education through scholarship and innovation. WVU is the first school to have two recipients of this award. In 2009, Lambert's departmental colleague, Penny Klinkhachorn, also won the honor.

Since 2005, Lambert has been teaching dental students in anatomy, head and neck anatomy and embryology and neuroanatomy. He began teaching at the University of Louisville, where he served as the course director for the head and neck anatomy for dental residents course.

Lambert serves as the councilor of the ADEA Anatomical Sciences Section with the ADEA Council of Sections. He also holds leadership positions in three other national professional organizations: the American Association of Clinical Anatomists, the American Association of Anatomists and the International Association of Medical Science Educators.
