WILLIAMSON -

Firefighters in Mingo County will spend a weekend in May perfecting their skills.

The 6th Annual Mingo County Fire and Rescue School is set for May 10th to May 12th.

The West Virginia University Fire Extension Service will conduct two live-fire burn classes in a mobile unit that simulates the sights, sounds, and flames of a real world fire.

Firefighters will participate in a hands-on class relating to aircraft rescue.

They'll also learn how to read smoke, how to respond to accidents with alternative fueled or hybrid vehicles and how to handle a meth lab. Natural gas emergencies and swift water rescues are also on the list of topics.

Other classes will be available to law enforcement officers and medical personnel.
