According to Ravenswood Police, Joshua Colby Caruthers of Racine, Ohio was arrested Thursday around 8 p.m. after authorities seized 44 grams of heroin from his vehicle.

Caruthers' criminal complaint states that a tip from Syracuse, Ohio police led to the bust.  That tip included information about a vehicle headed to Station 2 Apartments in Ravenswood.  Syracuse police said that vehicle contained a large amount of heroin.

After waiting in the parking lot of Station 2 Apartments for nearly three hours, Ravenswood Police observed a vehicle matching the description pull in.

According to the complaint, police followed the vehicle and performed a traffic stop.  Caruthers was in the passenger seat, and a juvenile female was driving.

Ravenswood Police then called Jackson County Sheriff's deputies for a drug-sniffing K9 to search the car.  The dog picked up on the scent of drugs, according to police.

Police told 13NEWS a subsequent search of the vehicle and occupants revealed approximately 44 grams of heroin.

Caruthers was arrested and charged with possession with intent to deliver.  After further questioning, police said he admitted to possessing the heroin and intended on distributing it.

13NEWS has learned this is not only the largest single heroin find in Ravenswood, the Sheriff of Jackson County says he believes it's the largest in the county.
