HUNTINGTON, WV -

Witnesses tell 13News an older man was sitting in front of his apartment building when a man and woman walking by began to harass him.

The incident happened just before 1:30 p.m. Monday in front of the apartments in the 900 block of Fifth Avenue in Huntington.

Officers with the Huntington Police Department tell us the man and the woman walking by had open containers and had the other man on the ground, hitting him in the head. Witnesses told us there were other people who joined the man and woman in harassing the man.

The man being harassed pulled out a short-blade knife and stabbed the man in the stomach and the woman in the hand.

The two were taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The man being harassed was able to walk away with a few "bumps and bruises," according to police.

No arrests have been made yet, and police did tell us the man being harassed was defending himself.
