UPDATE: Goff Mountain Rd. reopens after truck accidentally knocks down power lines in Cross Lanes

Posted: Updated:

Goff Mountain Road in Cross Lanes reopened to traffic just before 9:30 p.m. Monday.

According to the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office, Goff Mountain Road in Cross Lanes near the Pizza Hut will remain closed for several hours following the accident earlier today.

Residents of Brick Lane and Old Goff Mountain Road will have delays returning home.

The KCSO is urging people to have patience as accidents on West Washington Street and 40th Street in Nitro are causing additional traffic issues.

A vehicle has hit a power pole in Cross Lanes on Goff Mountain Road.  According to dispatch, the truck was carrying a backhoe which caught in the power lines pulling them down.

Emergency responders are saying that power needs to be turned off in the area to get to the accident.  According to our crew, power is expected to be out for several hours to streets along Big Tyler Road.

AEP says typically they isolate the area so only a handful of people will be left without power instead of thousands.
