An elderly Wheelersburg woman is breathing a little easier this evening after the man who stole from her is now behind bars.

Deputies with the Scioto County Sheriff's Department charged Derek A. Knight, 26, of Wheelersburg with felony breaking and entering and felony theft from the elderly.

Deputies say Knight stole a riding lawn mower and laptop from an elderly woman on Fairview Avenue in Wheelersburg April 23, according to a news release.

Knight was picked up on May 7 after officers found the stolen mower and laptop.  Knight is slated to appear in Portsmouth Municipal Court May 9.

Knight is currently in the Scioto County Jail.

Anyone with any information concerning this theft is being requested to contact Detective Jodi Conkel at 740-351-1091
