WHEELING, WV -- West Liberty University's Concert Choir, under the direction of Alfred de Jaager, will present its festive "farewell" concert prior to departing for a musical tour of Spain, at 7 p.m. May 10 in the Cathedral of St. Joseph, 13th and Eoff streets, Wheeling.

The program will consist of songs the choir will perform while on tour in Spain, May 12 – 21, and will include both sacred and secular compositions.

"We are performing a varied repertoire during our European tour. We'll start in Barcelona, then perform in Valencia and end in Madrid. While in Madrid we will also visit Toledo. There will be one formal concert in each of the three main cities," said de Jaager, who is director of choral activities.

In addition, the choir will perform an informal, 20-minute concert at the famous SagradaFamilia Basilica in Barcelona.

There are 25 singers in the WLU 2013 concert choir, which includes one full-time faculty member, Linda Cowan, and one adjunct faculty member who is also an alumnus, Ryan Keeling.

Began in 2007, the WLU Concert Choir spring tour gives students a chance to perform in varied settings for international audiences and enjoy a memorable educational experience.
