A search warrant led to the arrest of four men on May 8 for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

Three of the men arrested are University of Charleston football players.  Markel Vaughn, 22, Reggie Dillingham, 21, both of Charleston, Bryant S. Leighton, 22, of Charlotte, NC, and Ronald M. Kelley, 21, of Glen Allan, VA were arrested on charges of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.

According to a source close to the case, Dillingham, Leighton and Kelley are members of the UC football team.

Scott Castleman, University of Charleston spokesman released the following statement:

"We are aware of an off-campus incident involving three University of Charleston football players. The allegations against them are that they acted in ways which violate the University's drug policy. All three were suspended from the football team immediately. We will fully cooperate with law enforcement and will continue to monitor developments in the case."

The criminal complaint states detectives with Metropolitan Drug Enforcement Network Team attempted a controlled delivery of a package they suspected contained narcotics.  The package was delivered to a residence in Charleston and after the package was accepted detectives asked to search its contents.

After being refused, detectives obtained a search warrant for the house and the package.  The search revealed the package had felony levels of marijuana inside and the home had numerous digital scales and smaller quantities of marijuana.

Detectives then arrested the four men.
