A toddler found wandering on Charleston's west side is the same child found along Patrick Street on May 10.

According to the Charleston Police Dept., Malachi's mother saw him on the news yesterday and picked him up from his grandparents home.  Police say she drank until she fell asleep and Malachi managed to get out of the home.

Malachi was found on the 900 block of Hanna Dr. in Charleston about 11:20 a.m.

According to the criminal complaint, Gilmore left Malachi in the care of a friend who also fell asleep.  When the friend fell asleep, the toddler left the home.  A passer by saw Malachi walking down the road and picked him up, dropping him off at a neighbor's house where he stayed until police arrived.

Police located Gilmore and had to wake her up.  After smelling a strong odor of alcohol, Gilmore was given a breathalyzer and her BAC registered at .130, after being asleep for about five hours.

Freda Gilmore, of Charleston, was charged with child neglect with risk of injury.

Child Protective Services has taken custody of Malachi.
