WV Music Hall of Fame 2013 inductees announced

West Virginia is celebrating its rich homegrown music history.The West Virginia Music Hall of Fame announced the 2013 inductees on Tuesday.

The wide variety of musicians include Melvin and Ray Goins, Peter Marshall, Wayne Moss and Tim O'brien. Other deceased inductees are Ada "Bricktop" Smith, Elanor Steber and The Swan Silvertones.

Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr. was also on hand to receive the Spirit award for the positive attention he has brought to the state. He said he is amazed with the music history of West Virginia. "It's getting better and better as we go along, and I'm learning more and more about the music, and more and more about the history of my lovely state of West Virginia and it's good to be able to pass that on," said Murphy.

Murphy is coming out with a book and working on a film. He's also been practicing his Mandarin Chinese to help out with a show called "China's got Talent".

The induction ceremony for the West Virginia Music Hall of Fame is set to take place on November 16, and will be broadcast live on PBS. "I think it is going to be the best one ever we have more music performances planned and some kind of special surprises and special guests," said Michael Lipton, director of the West Virginia Music Hall of Fame.
