In a move that has left parents and coaches frustrated, half of the teams in the Kanawha Valley Youth Football League have split away to start their own league.
After three new teams were allowed into the league, longstanding teams from Nitro, Sissonville Campbells Creek, St. Albans, Poca, and Winfield left the league without any official reason.
Parents for the teams remaining in the league believe the move stems from a desire to move away from other teams who win championships year after year.
"It always seems to be the same teams that are left out," said parent Jason Bausley.
Coaches from the teams that left the league contacted by 13News deferred to a spokesperson who has yet to return calls.
Dean Sigmon, President of the Youth Football League declined comment.
