Two people are in custody following a meth bust in Charleston.

Police said they responded to an apartment on Hillcrest Drive just after 2 a.m.  A neighbor called 911 after they smelled something funny in the air.

Inside the apartment, Charleston Police arrested Darrell Crowder, 21, and Rebecca Knight, 22.

The couple has been charged with attempting to operate a clandestine lab and exposure of a minor to meth.

"You've got the kids around it and they've got nothing in on it. That's pretty messed up when you're going to have kids around it any everything," one neighbor said.

Police did not find an active meth lab but did find plenty of meth-making materials, authorities said.

A 2-year-old was home at the time of the raid. Police said the boy's grandmother is taking care of him now.

Neighbors tell 13 News they can't believe the couple would be so careless with their own child.

Crowder and Knights are in the South Central Regional Jail.
