Union Mission looking for help to make its garden grow

Posted: Updated:

For more than 100 years, the Union Mission has been providing help to West Virginia's most disadvantaged.

Its mission is "Helping hurting people in Jesus' name".  Across West Virginia, the Union Mission has gained a reputation of being there for those who have nowhere to turn.

Now, volunteers are planting a garden. They want to grow food to be more self sufficient. They're also asking for continued assistance so they can help others.

"I feel it's a great opportunity to help because they need helpers with this big garden. It's a big garden and I just feel like I was led to help today," said Kaitlyn Vannoy, a volunteer at the Union Mission.

They are in desperate need of tomato plants and green pepper plants. If you would like to contribute, please drop the plants off at the mission's administrative office on South Park Road in Kanawha County or go to the website to donate.
