CHARLESTON, WV -

The West Virginia Behavioral Healthcare Providers Association has given its 2013 Leadership Award in Behavioral Health to Don Perdue, chairman of the House of Delegates Health Committee. 

The Wayne County Democrat was honored for his work in prompting the Legislature to tackle West Virginia's substance abuse crisis, said Mark Drennan, the association's executive director.

The award was presented at the association's annual Senior Leadership Conference, at Stonewall Resort. Several members of the association also received leadership awards, including Judy Akers of Southern Highlands Community Mental Health Center, Crystal McIntyre and Jeff Prichard of United Summit Center, JoAnn Powell and Kevin Trippett of Westbrook Health Services, Mark Games of Northwood Health Systems, Dr. Rich Kiley of Appalachian Community Health Center, Marcie Vaughan of Seneca Health Service and Joyel Finley of Prestera Center for Mental Health Services.
