Kanawha County Drug Court graduates latest class

A number of people were recognized on Thursday in Kanawha County for reaching a life changing milestone.

Kanawha County's Drug Court held its graduation ceremony on Thursday afternoon. The judicially supervised substance abuse treatment program's main goal is returning drug-free, law abiding, and productive citizens to the community.

Patients said that it's hard to make the change, but well worth it. "People that experience this, they need to get help. Going through this program, it's wonderful. I feel sorry for the addicts that don't have chance to go through a program like this," said Tara Boyd from Ashland, Kentucky.

The Kanawha County Drug Court has had 44 graduates since it began in July 2009. Of those 44, only six have re-offended according to officials.
