The Alzheimer's Association held its annual luncheon to recognize and thank its volunteers on Thursday in Charleston.

The event was called the Thanks for the Memories luncheon.

The Walk to End Alzheimer's Volunteer award was presented at the event. The family of the late Sylvia Watkins received the award for the work Watkins did to help end the disease. "This cause will continue to be my cause and I will continue to work for just in a different way," said Jane Marks, the executive director of the Alzheimer's Association of West Virginia.

The organization's next fundraiser is a party in Parkersburg. The 4th Annual Luau Party on the Lawn will include food, drinks and live music. Proceeds for the Luau benefit the Mid-Ohio Valley Walk to END Alzheimer's.

It's scheduled for Friday, June 28, from 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. at Worthington Golf Club in Parkersburg.
