Hurricane, Buffalo, Wayne Capture State Softball Crowns


The Hurricane Redskins won their first WVSSAC state softball championship on Thursday defeating Wheeling Park 5-0.

Hurricane's Courtney Rogers threw a four-hitter in the 'Skins win over Park to capture the Class AAA title.


Wayne made it back-to-back Class AA state championships beating James Monroe 5-1.

In three games in the state tournament the Pioneers only gave up a combined three runs.


Buffalo won its third straight Class A state championship on Thursday.

The Bison shutout Moorefield 1-0.

Thursday's win marked the third straight tournament game where the Bison pitching staff didn't give up a run.

Buffalo finished the year on a 22-game winning streak.
