Neighbors find abandoned meth lab in suitcase outside of Charleston apartment building

Posted: Updated:

Around 1 p.m. Sunday, neighbors found a suitcase with some unexpected contents.

According to Charleston Police, the suitcase contained 13 bottles of a "shake and bake, one pot" style meth labs.

It was found in the parking lot of Terrace Park East on Charleston's East End, between two vehicles.

The contents inside the drink bottles, police said, were the leftover materials of the meth-making process.

Lithium, the substance in batteries, was clearly visible in the bottles, along with a white, powdery substance.

Neighbors at Terrace Park East  said they were shocked to know the suitcase was found in their back yard.

Neighbors there also said many children and elderly people live in the complex, and these kind of things don't typically happen there.

Police say they're not sure why the suitcase was dropped off in the parking lot.
