MORGANTOWN, WV -

Katherine Karraker has been selected West Virginia University's associate provost for graduate academic affairs, effective May 23. She had served as interim associate provost since August.

In the job, Karraker oversees graduate academic program planning and performance review and oversees the Office of Graduate Education and Life.

Karraker earned a bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Colorado and both a master's degree and a doctorate in developmental psychology from Michigan State University.

She joined the faculty at WVU in 1985 after teaching at the State University of New York at Buffalo and has published extensively in the field of developmental psychology.

In nearly 30 years at WVU, Karraker has directed psychology's graduate training program for 14 years and formerly served as acting director of the Center for Women's Studies. Karraker replaces Jonathan Cumming, who announced last summer he would not seek re-appointment.
