Gov. Tomblin declares state of emergency in Roane County, WV

West Virginia Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin has declared a state of emergency in Roane County.

The governor issued the emergency following severe thunderstorms hitting the area.  Several people had to be rescued from high water and the National Guard has been called in to help.

Currently, at 1:30 p.m. people will be taken to the Roane County old armory.

The Division of Highways has also sent crews to assist in the area.
