A letter, a photo, a code book, directory of lawmakers, sesquicentennial celebration items and an iPhone.

Those are some of the items Secretary of State Natalie Tennant plans to seal in a time capsule that will not be opened until West Virginia celebrates its bicentennial in 2063.

Tennant will include in the capsule samples of items that are important to the duties of secretary of state. The capsule will be placed in a secure vault at the Capitol.

The time capsule sealing will take place at 12:45 p.m. Thursday at the secretary of state's office, and the ceremony should last about 20 minutes. The Sesquicentennial Ceremony will follow at 1:50 p.m. on the Capitol steps.

The time capsule event will be webcast live on the secretary of state's website at www.wvsos.com.
