Relief efforts continue in Roane Co. following storms

Volunteers have been working for days to help with the relief efforts in Roane County. The county has been hit with two major storms recently. There are plenty of groups still helping with relief efforts in the area.

WV United Methodist - One team of volunteers to help with mucking out homes.  St. Johns United Methodist Church provided dinner for volunteers and families cleaning their homes. Spring Heights United Methodist Camp grounds are providing housing for VOAD work teams.

American Red Cross - Continues to do client casework.  One ERV remains at the National Guard Armory in Spencer to help with bulk distribution.  The ARC is supporting feeding, bulk distribution and cleanup.

Southern Baptist - Providing work teams to help with muck out and cleanup and helping with the coordination of volunteers.     
A Southern Baptist team is in Wirt County assessing down trees. They will be helping remove trees in Wirt County.

American Baptist - Has work teams helping with muck out and cleanup.

Westbrook Comprehensive Behavioral Health - Continues to provide crisis counseling.  

Catholic Charities - The Catholic Parish in Spencer will be helping with feeding.

Adventist Community Service - Continues to run the distribution center. 

Region 1 LTRG - The VOAD Chair and the Executive Committee of the LTRG met on Tuesday to begin planning for Long Term Recovery.  Their scheduled meeting for June 27 will be moved to Roane County. A location will be reported in the next report. The meeting is scheduled to start at 1:00.

Volunteers are needed for cleanup efforts right now.
