ASHLAND, Ky. -

A $52,400 contract has been awarded to a company from Cincinnati to repair the green bridge going into Ashland, Kentucky.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet announced Wednesday Evers Welding Co. Inc. is to complete repairs to the damaged 12th Street Bridge. The repair project is slated to be complete by July 31, according to the recent news release.

The 12th Street Bridge, also known as the Ben Williamson Memorial Bridge, was damaged by a vehicle crash into a steel beam May 17, one week before it was noticed, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Once the damage was noticed, officials closed the bridge and converted the 13th Street Bridge next to it to a two-way traffic pattern until it could be fixed.
