UPDATE:

Sgt. Shingler with the West Virginia State Police confirmed that two juveniles admitted to vandalizing 30 Braxton County school buses.

The teenagers, ages 16 and 17, face multiple charges each, including felony destruction of property, conspiracy, and attempting to commit a felony, according to Sgt. Shingler, who will file their juvenile petitions for arraignment on Friday.

Shingler said a parent contacted Braxton County Sheriff's Department Wednesday evening, saying his son had turned himself in for the crime.

Deputies then questioned two teens, who were released to their parents later that night.

State Police will handle the case moving forward.\

UPDATE:

A parent contacted 13 News reporter Jessie Shafer Wednesday evening, saying his son had turned himself in for the vandalism to 30 Braxton County school buses.

That suspect is underage, and as a result, his name will not be released.

The father said he is extremely disappointed in his son, and asked for privacy following the confession.

We have numerous calls into the Braxton County detachment of the West Virginia State Police and the Braxton County Sheriff's Office, and will update this story as new details arise.

ORIGINAL:

Braxton County officials are dealing with extensive damage to 30 of their buses.

According to bus director, Fritz Deuly, 33 buses were on the lot and a total of 30 were damaged, including two special needs buses.

The total damage estimate is $100,000.  The vandal or vandals busted windows, sprayed fire extinguishers inside the buses, damaged communication radios and damaged camera systems.

Braxton County's summer programs begins July1 and officials are hoping to have 4 buses back up by that time.

The West Virginia State Police are investigating, but they believe they have a lead on who committed the crime.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the WVSP.
