    Alpha Natural Resources announced July 31 that 11 affiliated coal mines and other facilities in West Virginia could be idled by mid-October, potentially causing 1,100 to be laid off.

HUNTINGTON -

Four children had to be taken from their home after officers found drugs where they were living. 

In incident happened Thursday in the 800 block of 11th Avenue in Huntington. Investigators received complaints of drug activity at the home and executed a search warrant, according to a news release. 

Investigators with the Huntington Police Department found heroin, oxycodone, needles and other drug paraphernalia throughout the home. 

Keith Wood, 28, is charged with maintaining a dwelling for drug activity and child neglect with risk of injury. 

Lindsey Thacker, 28, is charged with delivery of a controlled substance. 

Richard Cornwell, 25, is charged with possession of a controlled substance. 

Thomas Day, Jr., 37, is charged with being a fugitive from justice. 

All four adults are currently in the Western Regional Jail. 

The children are now in the custody of Child Protective Services.
