A man is recovering in the hospital after a bizarre accident Tuesday morning.

The DOH said one of its workers was driving a street sweeper along Route 60 near Cedar Grove.  They said he tried to move onto the shoulder of the road to let some coal trucks pass him.

The road gave way and the street sweeper toppled onto the railroad tracks upside down.

Firefighters had to cut the man out of the vehicle.

He was taken to CAMC with serious but non-life threatening injuries, authorities said.

Route 60 near Cedar Grove was shut down for more than one hour while crews cleared the scene.
