She may have been a #brickwall at third base, according to her own Tweets, but the Bad News Babes turned out to be too much for Rep. Shelley Moore Capito and the rest of the members team.

Capito once again took part in the annual Congressional Women's Softball Game June 26. She was one of six team captains on the Members team, which took on the Bad News Babes, a team made up of the Washington Press Corps and lost by a score of 11 to eight.

The event raised $115,000 for the Young Survival Coalition, which supports young survivors of breast cancer. Tickets to the game were just $10, and it took place at Watkins Recreation Center.

"The Congressional Women's Softball Game is a fun way for Members of Congress on both sides of the aisle to work together for a good cause," Capito said. "Over the past five years, I have enjoyed getting to know my colleagues and raising money and awareness for the Young Survival Coalition."

About 2,000 fans watched in person, and even more observed the feud via social media.

The teams spent nearly three months practicing, and Roll Call newspaper wrote that the trash talk was "utterly out of control."

Capito tweeted with reporters, posting that she was #readytorumble, and CNN's Capitol Hill radio correspondent Lisa Desjardins dropped care packages off to a few players on the members team, according to Roll Call, that contained over-the-counter painkillers and tissues.

The "gift" was of course documented on Twitter. The media team also won last year's match-up.
