Posted: Updated:

Three men are in custody after a reported robbery at St. Albans Riverfest.

According to a news release from Capt. James P. Agee with the St. Albans Police Department, around 8:30 p.m. Friday, a woman ran to SAPD officers directing traffic at Riverfest.

That woman told officers three men pushed her boyfriend to the ground and stole a string bag from her that contained her purse.

The release went on to state that bike officers on Riverfest duty and SAPD road patrol units located three suspects.

One of those suspects, 19-year-old Stephon J. LeMaster of St. Albans, was wearing the string bag on his back.  Agee said the bag still had the purse in it.

The other two suspects, 21-year-old Joseph C. Young of St. Albans, and 20-year-old David D. Wiley, also of St. Albans, were located along with LeMaster.

The victims told officers that Young approached them and Wiley tripped the boyfriend pushing him to the ground.

When he was down, the victims said LeMaster forcibly took the string bag from the girl.

Agee said that all will be charged with first degree robbery.

The male victim received slight abrasions.  His girlfriend was uninjured.

St. Albans Police Officers are investigating.
