EAST BANK, West Virginia -

School is starting back Aug. 9th in Kanawha County this year. The early start is putting several air conditioning repair projects up against a tight deadline.

A major renovation project is underway now at East Bank Middle School. Kanawha County School Board President Pete Thaw said that school and Riverside High School across the river have been some of the biggest trouble spots.

Parents said they are hoping the project will be done in time for their kids to go back to school without being too hot in class.

"If they are sitting there in the school and they are burning up you know how do they expect the children to focus on their school work," said parent Crystal Kimble.

Thaw says he has been assured by crews in charge of the repairs and renovations throughout the county that they will be completed by the beginning of the school year.
