Starting on Wednesday, July 3, Charleston police officers will be part of a community effort called "Pay It Forward - Charleston".

Led by Chief Brent Webster, several officers will go into the city's communities and offer cold beverages to show appreciation for the citizens the department protects and serves, according to a news release from the police department.  The goodwill effort will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Officers will also be challenging individuals and organizations to pay the good gesture forward.
