    The Ohio Department of Health and the West Virginia Department of Health are encouraging patients of a McMechen pain management clinic to talk with their primary care physician about testing for some infectious diseases following an investigation of the facility by the West Virginia Bureau for Public Health.

    UPDATE: 13 NEWS has learned the Dirty Girl Mud Run has been officially canceled for this weekend in Charleston. 
    UPDATE: 13 NEWS has learned the Dirty Girl Mud Run has been officially canceled for this weekend in Charleston. 

Starting on Wednesday, July 3, Charleston police officers will be part of a community effort called "Pay It Forward - Charleston".

Led by Chief Brent Webster, several officers will go into the city's communities and offer cold beverages to show appreciation for the citizens the department protects and serves, according to a news release from the police department.  The goodwill effort will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Officers will also be challenging individuals and organizations to pay the good gesture forward.

Several organizations in Charleston already have committed to participating in Pay It Forward - Charleston on Wednesdays throughout the month of July:

  • KISRA - July 10 (Carl Chadband, 304-768-8924)
  • Alzheimer's Association - July 17 (Laurel Kirksey, 304-343-2717)
  • The Father's House Missionary Baptist Church - July 24 (Pastor Lloyd Hill, 304-744-4441)
