AmeriCorps will partner with Catholic Charities West Virginia to offer six LifeBridge positions for the next year.

"AmeriCorps helps us to strengthen West Virginia communities by partnering with Catholic Charities West Virginia," Catholic Charities interim Central Region director/outreach coordinator Mara Skidmore said in a news release. "They help us to strengthen our mission to serve the vulnerable within our community."

The six members' responsibilities will include coordinating the volunteer program, providing services to consumers and assisting in program development, which will result in the members building community leadership skills while helping West Virginians in need.

The full-time positions will offer a living allowance, an end-of-service education award for the person or a family member as well as health insurance. Requirements include computer skills, good organizational skills and good written and verbal communication skills. Members must commit to one full year of service, beginning August 2013.

Service sites are Charleston, Morgantown, Parkersburg, Romney and Wheeling.

Catholic Charities West Virginia already will have a new AmeriCorps Volunteers in Service to America, or VISTA, member in the Northern Panhandle who will serve for one year, starting at the end of July. The VISTA member will focus on low-income families in Brooke and Hancock counties, and the two major responsibilities for the member will be to develop a new Volunteer Income Tax Assistance site as well as establishing a financial literacy program.

"AmeriCorps VISTA volunteers specialize in capacity building and new program development for nonprofit organizations," Northern Regional Director Erin McDonald said in a news release. "As Catholic Charities WV expands its programs in Brooke and Hancock counties, our new AmeriCorps VISTA will play a key role in helping us grow into new areas of service to the community."
