Two fugitives were captured in Putnam County, nearly 300 miles from home.

One of the fugitives, James Michael Burchman, is a person of interest in a recent murder out of Lewisville, North Carolina, near Winston-Salem.

It began after West Virginia State Police pulled their van over one mile west of the Hurricane exit on Interstate 64 Wednesday afternoon.

They noticed that a "be on the lookout" alert was sent out Wednesday morning out of North Carolina for the vehicle.

Hurricane Police assisted in the apprehension.

State Police said they pulled the van over, and ran both of the occupants names through their system.

They discovered that both people were reported missing out of North Carolina.

Detectives from Forsyth County, North Carolina, made the four hour drive to the Winfield detachment of the West Virginia State Police to question the two people taken into custody.

They emptied the van, searching for evidence Wednesday night.

When 13 News asked for a comment, North Carolina detectives declined.

Burchman was taken to South Central Regional Jail Wednesday night.

Authorities said the woman found in the vehicle with Burchman is not facing charges at this time.

We're working with the CBS affiliate, WFMY, in Winston-Salem to get more details on that murder investigation.
