CHARLESTON, WV (AP) -

West Virginia officials have wrapped up a series of statewide public meetings on the future of passenger and freight rail service.

The last of 8 meetings took place July 27 in Charles Town.

State Rail Authority executive director Cindy Hunt said the information gathered during the meetings will help the agency develop a plan for the next 20 to 30 years.

Consulting firm CDM Smith is helping the state to develop the plan.

Media outlets report that projects listed in the draft plan include upgrading the Harper's Ferry station to make it handicap accessible and adding a rail spur and station in Hampshire County.
