'Girls Night Out' event prepares to raise money for Charleston's YWCA

One of the biggest parties of the year is coming up on Aug 1, 2013. Girls Night Out is getting ready to take flight at Yeager Airport's Executive Air on Thursday evening.

The Charleston event has outgrown its home at the old Sunrise Museum and will be held for the first time in the Executive Air hanger at Yeager Airport. This year's theme is "Come Fly With Me".

Women from around the area will help the YWCA "Resolve Family Abuse Program". The program provides critical services to victims of domestic violence. In the past decade, Girls Night Out has raised more than $1 million for the program. "It really is an uplifting thing for everyone that is involved. It's not just a party, as we say it's a party with a purpose," said Suzette Raines, GNO committee co-chair.

The 2012 event raised approximately $190,000 with more than 900 women attending.
