Charleston Town Center Mall unveils new 'Streetscape' project

There are more changes coming to the Charleston Town Center Mall.

On Wednesday, General Manager Thomas Bird unveiled the mall's new Streetscape project. It will cost around $800,000 to complete.

The plans will transform the Court Street entrance, near Tidewater Grill and Chili's. Some of the improvements will include more sidewalk space, handicap accessible ramps, 11 new street light poles, new concrete, renovated restaurant patios, and new green spaces.

"There's over 20,000 people that work downtown and a lot of them walk through that door every day at lunch. Having that end of the mall look nice is tremendous for us," Bird said.

Thomas said the plans come less than one year after the mall underwent $7 million worth of renovations inside. The mall was able to get multiple popular stores to move in, including Sephora and Coach.

There are 10 spaces available for rent inside of the mall. Thomas could not comment on any stores that might move in.

"Never say anything until the deal is made," he said.

The Streetscape project will wrap up in November.
