UPDATE:  Woods was arraigned Wednesday and bond was set at $100,000.

A woman is brutally beaten and held against her own will.

59News has learned from McDowell County Sheriff's Deputies that a Bartley woman was held hostage by her husband for two days. Deputies said they were called to a home in the Bartley area Wednesday afternoon where they found a brutally beaten woman.

Daren Wood is charged with malicious wounding and domestic assault along with several other charges. According to deputies they said Wood allegedly shot and beat up his wife two days ago. They said Wood was keeping his wife hostage and would not allow her to get medical help. 

Authorities said the 44-year-old woman was able to get to a phone Wednesday afternoon to call for help. The woman had a gunshot wound to the leg and bruising to the face.  She is being treated at Welch Community Hospital. Her name is not being released. Wood is being held in the McDowell Detention Unit awaiting his arraignment.
