UPDATE:

Michael A. Johnson appeared before judge in Cabell County Magistrate Court on Monday night.

He is charged with wanton endangerment and domestic battery, according to a Cabell County criminal complaint.

Johnson was involved in a domestic dispute with a woman inside a home at 1222 10th Avenue in Huntington before the standoff. During the altercation, he used a weapon to threaten the victim as he was assaulting her.

There is no word on whether he will face additional charges related to the standoff.

Johnson's bail has been set at $100,000.  He's in the Western Regional Jail.

Cabell County emergency dispatchers have confirmed that Michael Johnson, the suspect in a standoff with Huntington Police on Monday evening, turned himself in.

He was being arraigned in Cabell County Magistrate Court on Monday night.

The scene of a police standoff in Huntington has been cleared. Now officers are searching for a man who was at the center of the incident with Huntington Police on Monday afternoon.

Police said it started when Michael Johnson was in a fight with his girlfriend at her home on Euclid Avenue. Johnson reportedly fired shots at the woman and ran off. According to police, he went to a home at 1222 10th Avenue. It's a house that Johnson claimed to own. That's when a standoff with police began.

Officers said that they tried to speak with Johnson for several hours. He did not come out and at 7:42 p.m., officers broke down the door and went inside the home. Johnson was not found inside. No one was inside according to police.

Police are actively looking for Johnson.

The SWAT team approached the house and broke down the front door just after 7:30 p.m.

The Huntington police are involved in a standoff on 10th Avenue in Huntington.

The cause of the stand-off is unconfirmed, but police have confirmed a man is inside the home.  The initial call came in as a shots fired incident.

The call came in about 2:30 p.m.

Police have closed 10th Avenue between 12th and 13th streets.

SWAT is in the area, but they have not forced entry into the home.
