Dwaine Osborne is the head men's basketball coach at the University of Charleston.

Osborne will immediately begin his duties with the Golden Eagles, according to a news release from UC. Director of Athletics Bren Stevens talked about the hiring process. "Dwaine's energy, integrity, commitment to student-athletes and desire to be part of an aspiring athletic program clearly separated him from an outstanding pool of candidates. I know that once the UC and the Charleston communities have the chance to meet him they will realize how fortunate we are to have Dwaine as our new head men's basketball coach."

Prior to joining the UC staff, Osborne served as the head men's basketball coach at the University of Texas - Permian Basin for the past four seasons. In his four seasons at UTPB, Osborne led the program to two winning seasons and two conference tournament appearances, with the program having had one winning season in its history before his arrival.

Osborne also coached on the Glenville State College staff for seven years, four of those as head coach. "I'm excited to be joining the new Mountain East Conference and facing some familiar faces from my days at Glenville. It's no doubt a great basketball conference and we are going to work hard to stay competitive and achieve at a high level in this transition", said Osborne.

Osborne, 37, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from Clearwater Christian College in Clearwater, FL. He also holds a Master's Degree in Communication from West Virginia University in Morgantown, W.Va.

He takes over a Golden Eagle team that returns six players from the 2012-13 season, posted a 19-9 overall record and a 14-8 WVIAC conference mark, good enough for a fifth-place finish. Osborne replaces Mark Downey who left UC for the head coach position at West Alabama.
