Ariel Rothfield joins WOWK as a general assignment reporter and is thrilled to be calling 13 News her new family here in Charleston. She is a graduate of Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism, where she double-majored in broadcast journalism and Middle Eastern History.

Ariel first pursued her dream of becoming a reporter in Fargo, North Dakota. There she covered the state legislature's controversial abortion bills, the unusually cold winter and the state's booming oil industry. Ariel also interned at Fox News Channel's Chicago, New York and Washington D.C. bureaus. During her junior year in college, she worked as a political reporter in Washington, D.C.

Born and raised in South Florida, Ariel is new to the Appalachian Mountains but is excited to explore all that West Virginia has to offer. She loves politics, running, cooking, traveling and meeting new people!
