    Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced the selection of Dan Dessecker, director of conservation policy for the Ruffed Grouse Society, to the national advisory committee for implementation of the National Forest System Land Management Planning Rule.

Officials at Jefferson Medical Center have awarded employee Jewel Awards for the second quarter of 2013 to Tonya Newlin and Janice Earp.

Newlin, a registration specialist, won the Ruby Award, which represents richness and warmth in the delivery of care. 

Earp, an environmental assistant, was chosen for the Diamond Award for her ability to withstand pressure. 

Both accepted their honors from Christina DeRosa, the chief administrative officer at the Ranson facilty, which is a part of University Healthcare.
