Wayne, Mingo agencies receive USDA funding

    A tractor trailer is blocking part of Route 2. The road is closed until further notice. Drivers heading in both direction are being asked to use the Big Ben Bowen Highway connector by Target to get around.

The Wayne County Building Commission and the Beech Creek Volunteer Fire Department in Mingo County recently received community facilities funding from USDA Rural Development.

The Wayne County Building Commission will receive a $1,430,000 grant from USDA Rural Development to complete the renovation of the lower floor of the county judicial annex into magistrate offices and courts.  The funds will also be used to replace the roof on the building.

The Beech Creek Volunteer Fire Department in Mingo County will receive $8,000 to assist in the upgrade of the electrical and HVAC systems in its fire hall.
