CHARLESTON, WV -

A man who fathered his own grandchildren is heading to prison after being sentenced in Kanawha County, WV.

In a plea hearing, a Kanawha County judge sentenced Charles Shamblin to five to 15 years in prison.

Shamblin pleaded guilty to one count of incest for fathering three of his grandchildren.  Prosecutors agreed to drop the other charges in exchange for his plea.

State Police said he started abusing his daughter when she was 7-years-old.  The allegations did not come as a surprise to some family members who said they suspected the abuse all along.

She had her first child by the time she was 14-years-old.

The victim is now in her 30s.
