Posted: Updated:

HospiceCare has opened a new grief counseling center. The Wallace Grief Support & Education Center is a 3,600-square-foot addition to the Grief & Loss Department at the main office in Charleston.

It will expand HospiceCare's outreach around the 16-county service area, according to a news release from HospiceCare, by adding more grief support groups and individual counseling for adults, children and teens who are dealing with the loss of a parent, grandparent, sibling or child. In addition, loss from miscarriage, homicide or suicide, divorce, and the loss of a family pet. The center also includes a new children's therapy room.

"I would like to thank Dave and Margie Wallace for their shared vision to help provide a Grief Support and Education Center for our community," said Michael D. Dupay, HospiceCare's Bereavement & Spiritual Care. 'Our goals for The Wallace Center are for it to be an affordable and quality grief support resource available for all children and adults in our community who need it. Our ultimate goal is to help build a healthier community for our children and adults who have suffered loss by creating an environment where healing can take place."'
