Update

It's been more than five weeks since Fairmont General Hospital filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy.

The hospital's attorneys were scheduled to be in U.S. Bankruptcy Court Wednesday, Oct. 30 but it was postponed so both parties can work out the details of financing.

Attorney Mike Garrison is seeking approval for $6 million in interim financing to get FGH through the bankruptcy process.

The next hearing is scheduled for November 6.

Original story

The Fairmont General Hospital President and CEO has stepped down from his position, according to the Fairmont General Hospital Board of Directors.

The board of directors accepted Robert C. Marquardt's resignation, just weeks after the hospital filed Chapter 11 Bankruptcy.

The Fairmont General Hospital Vice President of Finance and CFO Dan Honerbrink is no longer employed by the hospital, said attorney Mike Garrison, of Spillman, Thomas & Battles, who represents the hospital's Board of Directors. Honerbrink's last day at the hospital was Monday, Sept. 23, according to Garrison.

On Monday, Sept. 30, Garrison also confirmed that Jim Harris, Vice President of Human Resources, is no longer employed at Fairmont General Hospital. Garrison said Harris' last day was Friday, Sept. 27.

The hospital's Board of Directors unanimously appointed Peggy Coster as the interim President and CEO and voted for Michael R. Lane of Hammond Hanlon Camp, LLC to serve as the hospital's Chief Restructuring Advisor.

"The board would like to thank Mr. Marquardt for his service to the hospital and is dedicated to continuing the important and urgent work of the Chapter 11 restructuring process with Peggy Coster and Mike Lane in positions of leadership," Board Chairman Mike Martin said in a statement from the hospital's Board of Directors.

Martin also said in the statement that the board is committed to "continuing to play an active role in this restructuring process and working closely with our advisors to maintain a high-quality acute care hospital here in Marion County."
