HUNTINGTON, WV -

The tradition of celebrating John Marshall's birthday continues at Marshall University Tuesday.

Students, faculty, staff and community members were on hand at Buskirk Field to eat a huge birthday cake and even get in on a game of quoits, similar to horseshoes, against Marshall University President Stephen Kopp.

Will Vance, who has watched the game for years but never had the chance to play until today. "It was really heavy. It was heavier than I thought it would be," Vance said.

All of this week's events at Marshall University are in celebration of Constitution Week, but the fun isn't over. There are still a couple more events you can enjoy.

The Robert C. Byrd Forum on Civic Responsibility will feature Early Freedom Rider Ms. Joan C. Browning to give her "Oh the Places That Freedom Riding Take Me " address. She will be in the Francis-Booth Experimental Theatre Thursday, Sept. 26, at 2 p.m.

On Tuesday, Oct. 1, at 7 p.m. is the Amicus Curiae Lecture at the Marshall University Foundation Hall. James E. Simon is the guest speaker. Simon is dean emeritus of New York Law School.
