CHARLESTON, WV -

The 67th Kanawha County majorette and band festival took over Laidley Field in Charleston, WV on Tuesday evening. It is the longest running music festival in West Virginia. The festival featured performances by all eight Kanawha County high school bands, along with special guest "The Pride of West Virginia", the WVU Marching Band.

The bands combined their membership on the field and played the Star Spangled Banner at the beginning of the show.

Schools competed for gold, silver and bronze medals in several categories. The bands with the highest total score are considered for the Festival Grand Champion award. In addition Miss Kanawha Majorette 2012, Taylor Freeland was on hand to present the award to the new Miss Kanawha Majorette of 2013.

Proceeds raised at this event provide important financial support for the eight Kanawha County high school band programs.
