Four dogs were taken from a home in Johnson County, KY on Wednesday after deputies say they were in poor health.

Acting on a tip, deputies with the Johnson County Sheriff's Office say they went to the home of J.D. Messer on Silk Stocking Road in the Thealka community in the Town of River. Deputies say once they were on the scene they saw two dogs lying on the front porch and two more inside the home. Deputies say all four dogs appeared to be in bad health and possibly malnourished.

All four dogs were taken from the home. Deputies say charges are pending. The sheriff says any report of abuse or neglect can remain anonymous and you can call 606-789-3411.
